Light a candle and check out your other half! Stuck for ideas for your next lockdown date night?
Why not Zoom in for a relaxed evening learning how to effectively check out your partner* and yourself.
There are over 2,000 new testicular cancer diagnoses a year in the UK, and over 55,000 Breast cancer diagnoses. Noticing the early warning signs and symptoms could be enough to save your life! And yet, how many of us actually know what to look out for? Or how we’re supposed to check? We’ll be joined by George from The OddBalls Foundation, and Amy from Breast Cancer Now to highlight the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and testicular cancer, and the importance of getting to know what is normal for you, and your partner*.
*Or close friend!
About the Speakers
Amy Hickman is the Senior Public Health and Wellbeing Officer at Breast Cancer Now. She is based in Edinburgh and joined the charity in 2016 to deliver a volunteer led project, focussed on lifestyle change, to reduce the risk of women developing breast cancer. In this role she manages a team of volunteers to deliver breast awareness talks. These awareness talks are aimed at adult women to raise awareness of breast cancer and its causes, signs and symptoms, the importance of early detection and reducing your risk of developing the disease.
George Hobbs is a student ambassador for The OddBalls Foundation. Set up in 2016, The Oddballs Foundation’s aim is to raise awareness of testicular cancer by encouraging people to check themselves regularly in order to detect problems early. George is currently studying at Cardiff University- where he reads English Literature and plays rugby. He has been in his role at OddBalls for four months and in that time he has delivered talks to multiple schools, businesses and teams.
This is a free event, but we are grateful for any donations. Suggested donation for this event is £5, which will be split between Breast Cancer Now, The OddBalls Foundation and Bell House.
