Quilt Academy

About Us

The Quilt Academy is a regular group at Bell House that meets on a weekly basis to work on both individual and group quilting projects. In 2018, the quilters made a beautiful quilted wall hanging of Bell House, with each member making one panel. Since 2019, the quilters have been working on incubator covers for premature babies at King’s Hospital, in collaboration with Project Linus. More recently the stitchers have made quilts for Afghan families moving to new homes, hot water bottle covers for food banks (contact us if you would like to donate hot water bottle to be covered this summer) and quilts for children leaving care.

You can see Quilt Academy’s “What Got Us Through Quilt” at the Southwark Museum of Heritage and Culture Archives.

Join Us

Led by Janis and Marianne, the Quilt Academy meets every Thursday between 10am - 4pm.

The meetings are run as drop-in sessions to which everyone is welcome - from beginners to seasoned quilters. We are a friendly and social group, with lots of opportunity for talking over a cup of tea (and over a cutting table!) The fun, creative and supportive atmosphere is especially ideal for anyone wanting to get out and meet new people.
