Nilofar Akmut
Asherah, the great goddess of the Canaanite pantheon, representing power, healing, and fertility, appeared to me as a rock formation amid a range of mountains reaching toward the heavens. I struggled to incorporate her as a symbol of devotion to the inclusion of excluded women, embedding her presence within the mineral substance of the earth.

My work explores the changing natural environment, with a focus on rock formations that have, over time, taken on human-like shapes. This transformation fascinates me—these silent figures, shaped by time and erosion, seem to watch us, posing questions about mortality and the loss of landscape. Through photography, moving image, and sound, I seek to capture this dialogue between nature and humanity, exploring the tension between permanence and impermanence.
