MEET THE SPEAKERS

Angie Venchard

Angie has over 20 years of experience as a disability consultant. She has worked in further education and a variety of universities and is a member of PATOSS, BDA and NADP.

Anne Sheppee

Anne has been a specialist teacher for the last 17 years. She has a wealth of experience having worked as a SENDCo in two large schools and as an advisor for a South London LEA.

Carol Allen

Carol is an education advisor for ICT and Inclusion in particular supporting LGFL and Hartlepool LA. She was named as one of the top ten educators for 2018 in the field of educational technology for her inclusion work.

Caroline Bateman

Caroline is the founder and lead consultant of Achieve Now, and provides a suite of solutions to empower dyslexic learners to reach their potential.

Denise Dawkins

Denise, a Master Pilates Teacher, will be exploring how Pilates exercises can help us to become more self aware, teach us how to manage our state and improve our posture, coordination and control.

Janet Goring

Janet is manager of an LA team supporting pupils with Literacy/Numeracy difficulties. She is on the Dyscalculia committee of the British Dyslexia Association.

John Hicks

John is a therapeutic counsellor, parenting coach and blog writer who supports a community of 2500 parents of dyslexic children. He explores why the use of assistive technology plays an essential part in unlocking the academic potential of a pupil or student.

Karen Murcott

Karen is a Specialist Teacher Assessor and has led the Dyslexia Screening and Assessment Service at Bell House since 2019 helping families to understand their child's profile and how it affects educational attainment.

Katie Hudson

Katie instructs Chi Kung - an ancient form of gentle, meditative exercise suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.

Keene Braganza

Keene, Managing Director of KAZ Type, believes that the fundamental skill of touch typing can transform the lives of individuals with dyslexia.

Madeleine Hay

Madeleine is a Dyslexia Practitioner specialising in primary education. She supports pupils on a one-to-one basis in schools and her home classroom.

Marcia Brissett-Bailey

Marcia is a Neurodiversity Narrative Changer, speaker, author, Dyslexia advocate and Neurodiversity champion. She is a Co-founder of the BDA Cultural Perspective Committee, and a board member of several organisations.

Rossie Stone

After struggling at school with dyslexia, Rossie created the Dekko technique – turning wordy information into simple, fun, visual comic stories that help learning retention.

Ruth Pierce

Ruth is a Specialist Dyslexia Teacher and Assessor currently working for Lyndhurst Dyslexia Centre with over 20 years of SEND teaching experience.

Sarah Hayward

Sarah is an experienced speech and language therapist and PhD student at University College London researching collaboration with families to support children’s’ communication and learning.

Sarah Parrott

As an experienced teacher and writing specialist, Sarah built Write Sparks to inspire writing for pleasure. She offers consultancy and leads innovative creative writing events.

Simon Trewin

Simon is a Literary Agent working with creatives worldwide but is also the Founder of The Garage Press (now at Bell House) – one of Europe’s leading letterpress studios.

Sunil Chothi

Sunil is an Independent SEN Advocate, who has worked within SEN for over 17 years, successfully helping parents secure EHC assessments, EHC plans, private therapy provision, ABA Home Programmes, Independent Special Schools and challenge SEN exclusions.

Tania Hurt-Newton

Tania will be co-running the Open Studio in The Garage Press - Bell House’s own vintage-style letterpress printworks which uses historic presses to keep traditional skills alive and to inspire new generations of creatives.

Tina Hunter

Tina is a specialist tutor and assessor who has over 20 years of experience working in secondary and further education.

Victoria Bagnall

Victoria is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Connections in Mind. She is a neurodiverse teacher and mother of three girls who has dedicated her life to raising awareness of essential brain functions: executive functioning.
