A dyslexia screening assessment at Bell House consists of a series of short literacy and cognitive tasks designed to highlight areas of strength and any difficulties a learner might experience. Assessments last around 45 minutes on average but can last up to one hour.

When mapped together the outcomes can indicate whether or not the learner has a profile typical of a dyslexic learner. You will receive a brief report within 7 days outlining the findings with some general recommendations and suggestions for further action.

A screening assessment can help to identify the cognitive and literacy difficulties typically associated with dyslexia and to inform whether a full assessment is advisable. A full diagnostic assessment will formally diagnose dyslexia, where appropriate.

A Full Diagnostic Assessment will gather information on underlying ability, cognitive processing ability and core skills such as reading, spelling and writing. It administers a selection of standardised assessments and will usually take 2-3 hours. The formal report will contain all the assessment results, a clear diagnosis where the evidence supports this and recommendations to address any difficulties identified.

The screening assessment at Bell House is suitable for children and teenagers aged between 6 and 15 years old.

Screening assessments cost £150.  Bursary places are available upon request (evidence of need will be asked for).

All screening assessments take place at Bell House on Fridays during term-time. Each screening assessment lasts 45 minutes.
