ANGELA GURLING

Angela is a Specialist Dyslexia Teacher. She has worked in state-sector Primary education for 20 years, originally as a class teacher and then specialising to support children with dyslexia. She currently works for an independent school along with tutoring privately at home. Angela would love to share her experiences and offer advice about how to support children with literacy difficulties, particularly those in Early Years and Key Stage One.

ANNE SHEPPEE

Anne has worked in education for over 25 years as a SENDCo, LEA advisor and now as a Neurodiversity Consultant and Dyslexia Specialist. She currently works with several schools in South-East London providing both staff training, parent talks and dyslexia assessments; as well as carrying out private assessments in her own home. In the last year she has been a speaker at both the TES SEN show in London and the Dyslexia Show in Birmingham, being particularly passionate about supporting Dyslexic students in the classroom through Quality First Teaching.

KAREN MURCOTT

Karen is a Specialist Teacher and Assessor holding a Level 7 qualification in Specific Learning Difficulties with current AMBDA and an APC. Since 2019, she has led the Dyslexia Screening and Assessment Service at Bell House, helping families to understand their child's profile and how it affects educational attainment. Karen has over 20 years teaching experience and is passionate about helping those who learn differently. She is a parent of a dyslexic child which gives her a genuine understanding of the challenges and opportunities that this learning difference presents.

LYDIA BALDWIN

Lydia is a specialist dyslexia teacher and assessor, currently pursuing a Masters in Dyslexia at UCL (finishing in September 2025). A graduate in English Literature with a first career at IBM, Lydia moved into education as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at a local primary school in 2014 with the aim of helping children tackle their difficulties with reading. After eight years supporting children with literacy difficulties and SEND, Lydia undertook an MA in dyslexia in order to qualify as a specialist. She left her HLTA role in May 2023 to focus on dyslexia teaching and assessing.

MADELEINE HAY

Madeleine is a Level 5 dyslexia teacher, providing specialist support in schools as well as dyslexia tutoring in her home classroom. She is passionate about helping dyslexic students succeed at school and explore ways in which they can increase their understanding of how they learn.

RUTH PIERCE

Ruth is a qualified specialist dyslexia teacher and assessor. She has over 25 years of SEN teaching experience in a variety of education settings including both primary and secondary schools; as a local authority consultant; teaching in a local authority dyslexia resource base and in a special school for students with Social, Emotional and Behavioural difficulties. Ruth is passionate about inclusive education and as both a member of the Bell House Dyslexia committee and as a parent of a dyslexic learner, is keen to ensure that all families can access free advice and support around their child’s learning needs.

SUZANNE JESSEL

Suzanne is a qualified class teacher with a B.Ed. and M.A. in Education.  She has years of experience working as a class teacher and SENCO and is a Level 7 dyslexia teacher and diagnostic assessor.  Suzanne runs the 4 day 'Get Started with Touch Typing Course' at Bell House for Yr 5 and 6 children with dyslexia during half term holidays as she believes this to be one of the most impactful interventions for these children to help overcome barriers at school. This course is designed specially to boost the confidence and mindset of children struggling with literacy difficulties caused by dyslexia. Suzanne is a member of the Dyslexia Team and the Steering Group at Bell House.

TINA HUNTER

Tina Hunter is a highly experienced specialist teacher and assessor with over 20 years of experience in the field of further education. She has worked with students across primary, secondary, and further education levels, allowing her to develop a comprehensive understanding of the diverse needs of learners at different stages of their academic journey. Tina regularly runs the ‘Supporting the Dyslexic Learner’ course at Bell House which aims to help parents understand how they can best support their children at home.
