Filmmaking 101: Lighting with Kaspar Kamu

Filmmaking 101

What does a director actually do? What makes a good script? Why is editing so important? Over the course of this year, Bell House Films will answer these questions and many more with its series of ‘Filmmaking 101’ events.

Every month, an industry professional will host an online tutorial, where they will delve into the fundamentals of a specific filmmaking discipline.

Second tutorial: Lighting

Filmmaking 101’s second tutorial will cover lighting and be hosted by freelance director of photography, Kaspar Kamu.

Who is this for?

For anyone and everyone with an interest in film, ‘Filmmaking 101’ is for you. You don’t need experience, you don’t need kit, you just need to bring your creativity and your curiosity.

About Kaspar Kamu:

Kaspar Kamu is a Finnish-born director of photography, currently based between London and Berlin. Raised back-and-forth between Europe and Asia, continuous exposure to multiple environments and cultures sparked his interest in visual storytelling at a very early age. Cinema was a constant presence throughout Kaspar’s childhood thanks in part to his father - who directed a few feature films in the 70s. Through him, Kaspar was introduced to classics such as Bridge Over The River Kwai, Citizen Kane, and  Some Like It Hot. It was during his first viewing of Titanic, however, at the age of seven, when he initially became aware of the camera as a separate entity and narrative device within filmmaking.

He studied filmmaking at Met Film School in Berlin - graduating in 2014 and consequently embarking on a freelance career.
