Come along to a virtual talk on bowel cancer awareness, co-hosted by Bell Health and the charity Bowel Cancer UK.
What will be in the talk?
In partnership with Bowel Cancer UK this talk will highlight all you need to know about bowel cancer:
Signs and symptoms - learn the most common symptoms of bowel cancer
Risks - gain an awareness of the risk factors associated with bowel cancer
Bowel Screening - learn about the NHS bowel screening programme and the importance of taking part
The speaker will also be happy to answer any questions you might have. Very often, they have had personal experience of bowel cancer, and therefore have a great deal of knowledge and wisdom to share.
A qualified Bell Health volunteer will also be available to discuss the screening process using a FIT test which is simple to use.
Why building awareness is important
Bowel cancer is currently the fourth most common cancer in England and the second biggest cancer killer. Over 34,000 people in England are diagnosed with bowel cancer each year, and nearly 14,000 people die annually from the disease.
However, it doesn’t have to be this way, as bowel cancer is treatable and curable, especially when caught early. That’s why charities like Bowel Cancer UK are dedicated to raising awareness through their volunteer-led awareness programme.
This event is free but we would welcome a suggested donation of £5 which will be shared equally between Bell House and Bowel Cancer UK.
