Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto at the V&A is the first UK exhibition dedicated to the work of French couturière Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. Developed in collaboration with Chanel, Paris Musées and Palais Galliera, it celebrates the establishment of the House of CHANEL and the evolution of Chanel’s iconic design style which continues to influence the way women dress today. Oriole Cullen, Senior Curator of Fashion and Textile at the V&A Museum, will discuss the development of the exhibition, which charts Chanel’s sixty-year design career from humble beginnings and the opening of her millinery business in 1909 to her final collection of Spring/Summer 1971.
