Friday 14th March, 10.00am - 4.30pm
BOOKBINDING: VISIBLE STITCHES WORSHOP
EXPERIENCE LEVEL – NONE
Would you like to have go at bookbinding?
This session starts at 10.00 am and ends at 4.30 pm. There is a chance of over-running so please allow some extra time at the end of the day.
Come and join our Print Room & Bindery.
Tania will introduce you to the fundamentals of binding using visible stitches.
This taster session is designed to introduce you to visible stitches binding. The exposed stitch style of binding uses stitching sections straight through the spine of the book. These make great sketch books as they open flat. At this workshop you will take home one or two bound books (depending on your speed) and the skills to build on at future workshops and work on at home.
This workshop is ideally suited to anyone who has had a little experience of bookbinding but anyone who can thread a needle and handle a craft knife and is a keen crafter will be able to follow the day’s task. If you have some experience then all the better!
All materials and equipment supplied. Tania will have ready prepared all the materials you need, trimmed to size for an efficient speed of working. *
These workshops are held in the Bell House Print Room and Bindery where we will be using materials and equipment kindly donated to us from Dulwich College and The London Library. Space is limited so book fast. These are probably the smallest book binding classes ever! ONLY 3 places available for lots of one-to-one focus time.
You will most definitely be needing a break so either bring along a sarnie or we can refuel on some biccies for half an hour.
Cost including all materials £60
ALL MATERIALS INCLUDED – NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED
*PLEASE NOTE this workshop is unsuitable for under 16s and sharp equipment is used.
PLEASE BRING AN EXTRA LAYER AS THE PRINT ROOM MAY GET CHILLY.
The workshop will be run by the Creative Director of the Print Room & Bindery – Tania Hurt-Newton.
