HANDPRINTING WITH WOODEN TYPE

  • Bell House Dulwich 27 College Rd England, SE21 7BG United Kingdom (map)

LEARNING TO PRINT WITH WOOD TYPE

Choose a typeface or two from our huge library of historic wood type and spend an immersive afternoon learning the basics of letterpress printing.

You will start by helping you create a simple hanging sign on a 1950’s Showcard handpress using a combination of wooden letters, hand-cut ornaments and some wonderful pointing hands. We will mount this on grey-board and hole-punch it so you can take it home later to hang in pride of place.

After a short break we will help you print an A3 two-colour poster on ‘Albie’ – our 1867 Albion Press and then, if there is time, maybe even a frameable type-sample.

You can then take home your bespoke printed goodies in a Bell House Print Room & Bindery tote bag and hopefully want to come back for more!

Tickets are £60 per person.

Suitable for over 16s only. Unfortunately this event is not suitable to anyone in a wheel chair due to basement access.
