BOOKBINDING: Japanese Stab binding workshop
Would you like to have go at bookbinding?
This taster session is designed to introduce you to a Japanese Stab Binding.
This session starts at 10 and finishes at 4.
This session is designed to introduce you to basic binding and box making skills that you can build on at future workshops and work on at home. At this workshop you will take home three different stab bound soft back books (4-hole, Noble and Tortoise shell stitches) and a slip case.
We will be holding these workshops in the Bell House Print Room and Bindery where we will be using materials and equipment kindly donated to us from Dulwich College and The London Library. Space is limited so book fast. These are probably the smallest book binding classes ever! ONLY 3 places available for lots of one to one focus time.
We will most definitely be needing a break so either bring along a sarnie or we can refuel on some biccies for half an hour.
If time allows you will also be able to have a go at printing your own book plate on one of our vintage letterpress machines.
Cost including all materials £60.
ALL MATERIALS INCLUDED – NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED.
The workshop will be run by the Creative Directors of the Print Room & Bindery - Simon Trewin and Tania Hurt-Newton.
Suitable for over 16s only. Unfortunately this event is not suitable to anyone in a wheel chair due to basement access.
Refunds
Please note, we are unfortunately unable to offer refunds for this event.
Reduced ticket prices
We’d like as many people as possible to be able to access and enjoy Bell House. We offer a limited number of income-based concession tickets at half price, which can be booked directly - if you would not be able to attend at the full price due to financial considerations, then this concession option is available.
