In July this year, we welcomed Year 6s from Elm Wood School to Bell House for our first ever school visit! Elm Wood pupils learned all about bees on a trip to our beehives, helped us make some beautiful quilts for premature babies at King’s Hospital, and brought the history of Bell House to life in our creative writing sessions.
This is the fifth episode in our weekly series Elm Wood Writes Bell House, showcasing the best of the poetry, diary- and story-writing from our time with the Year 6s. Today we bring you a story that begins in boredom and ends in excitement:
‘For glory!’
Max hated this school trip. ‘What’s so special about a house?’ he thought to himself. His teacher’s voice was blabbering on about an old artifact he didn’t care about at all.
Suddenly the floorboard under his feet broke with a loud SNAP! He looked down and lifted the dilapidated floorboard beneath his feet, and lifted the remains of what looked like a fine rapier made out of rusty metal. Max, who was very confused, looked around him, and only then did he realise that everybody had disappeared…
BANG! He woke up with the sword in his clammy hands. He could hear silver rapiers clashing. All around him, knights were stabbing each other. Blood stained the dusty ground.
‘For glory!’
Max turned around and found a sword implanted in his chest, followed by a man in bulky metal armour.
Everything went black.
